GLØD

For years we only cooked for groups and overnight guests. From summer 2026, we open seven tables on selected dates for anyone who books.

A few dates, a few tables

We only publish dates when we already have other guests in the restaurant. How many of the seven tables you can book depends on how many are already taken that evening. It keeps the room intimate, and often nicely international.

The menu

Our chefs set the menu in advance. It sits somewhere between a tasting menu and a traditional three courses, and in most cases it’s a surprise. Expect variety, fresh seasonal ingredients from the region, and to leave full. This is not an à la carte restaurant.

We have a liquor licence. Choose the chef’s wine pairing for the evening’s menu, or order from the drinks menu. Arrive a few minutes early for something refreshing in the lobby.

In the kitchen

Chef Simone Ciancoini

Simone “Simo” Ciancoini

Originally from Italy, at GLØD since 2023. Off duty he’s out on his snowmobile or hiking in the mountains, and he dreams of taking the Norwegian hunting test.

Chef Tor Even Aas

Tor Even Aas

The grand old man in the kitchen. Tor has run most of the kitchens in Alta and has served the most meals cooked over a campfire. Nothing knocks him off his perch.

A long table set for dinner inside the large lavvu

Lavvu, bar and pizza oven

Groups and overnight guests can eat in the GLØD lounge or in our large lavvu. Next to it is our own outdoor area with a bar and an outdoor kitchen, where things can be more casual: barbecue, or Italian pizza from the pizza oven.

GLØD started as an activity provider, and doing something before dinner is still close to our hearts. Pair your evening with an outdoor activity, ideally followed by a sauna.
